  Keeping Track Of The Brothers During The Great Tribulation

  i couldn’t help but watch the “bunker video “again.

  i learned that once they are in the bunkers they will need to get the attendance numbers from the different groups that are in hiding during the “great tribulation.” chris and wife risked their lives going to the different groups and getting the numbers and putting them on slip of paper which he then handed to brother brown.

  of course these numbers would have to be kept track of so they could make a full report back to the headquarters.

  They used to have all these stories about how in war time, the brothers and sisters had to hide information. One story went that a sheet of paper that listed where the other witnesses were, was left out in plain sight and yet the soldiers missed it entirely!

  The WT has to add side stories to fuel the imaginations of the regulars. Oh how dangerous but courageous of that couple to collect that info. Certainly, that also shows that the WT is keeping track of it's poor sheep and cares what happens to them.

  But if it is the Great Tribulation, what is that really going to accomplish? Can the couple count time for that? Isn't that setting them up to have to be tortured to get that info? (which is what the WT wants people to think about) Do they expect the GTrib to last for years? Will the next bunker episode see the bunkees hooking up to next door to get power for their ipads so they could read the Watchtower? After all, Man cannot live on the Bible alone but needs to have the Watchtower to keep their spirituality intact.

  It also helps to make a stronger line between "us" and them "worldly" people. Remember the old Revelation picture of the rebellious people that were going to be destroyed at the end of the 1,000 year reign? They all deserved to die and get out of the way of others so they could enjoy paradise. They had necktie headbands. They've been replaced with the police swat team who are scarier.

  Well the rest of my post got lost.

  When selfish behavior is reported and even celebrated, a servant of God might despise such conduct but envy the results.

  I can imagine that there may have been complaints about those in a high position exhibiting "selfish behavior" It's making those that have complained about it, "envying the results" Typical WT.
  

  On Paul’s first missionary journey, for instance, the Lycaonian people mistook him and Barnabas for superheroes​—as incarnations of their false gods Zeus and Hermes. Were Paul and Barnabas tempted to ride the wave of popularity? Would that seem to be a refreshing break from all the persecution they had experienced in the last two cities they visited? Did they imagine that the publicity could help to advance the good news?

  The WT making up all sorts of imaginings. lol However, Paul and Barnabas could have indeed have had a little fun, but then just reported that they were outraged by the whole thing. Nothing like a little R&R.

  This was also interesting.

  Although not needing Moses’ input, Jehovah gave Moses an opportunity to reveal how he felt. What human would listen at length to the reasoning of someone who has displayed faulty thinking and then act on that person’s word?

  I don't think the GB would. Probably not most Elders.

  David and Shimei being used as an example of being cursed. There isn't any mention in this paragraph of who this applies to. Worldly or other JW's, it doesn't say.

  We too can pray when under attack. In response, Jehovah provides his holy spirit, which can help us to endure. Can you think of a situation in which you need to exercise self-restraint or freely forgive unwarranted animosity?

  1975—Were You Affected By What 1975 Was Supposed to Bring?

  for years , we were told to wait until 1975!.

  the end was coming and we better be ready—or else!.

  Since I felt doomed to die at Armageddon since I was around 7 or 8, I was always fearful in general and depressed. When they announced 1975 as something big going to happen, I started contemplating on how to commit suicide. I'd rather kill myself than have God destroy me because I was bad.. So I was 17 when the keynote talk was given at Kezar stadium on a sunday. I remember the build up. Almost 6,000 years since Adam created. Then he named the animals. How long did it take? Not long since there wasn't as many varieties. How long after that was Eve created? We don't know but, not long. How long till they were cast out, not long (because of course, Eve didn't get pregnant)

  So brothers and sisters, maybe a few months, weeks, we don't know, but soon etc. about the coming year of 1975 things will happen. Where will you be etc, what will you be doing? The whole stadium was silent. I left my seat to go to the bathroom. Which was just my way of finding a place I could sob silently at my upcoming death. I must have looked terrible with snot running down and red eyes and nose. But I guess I was also good at hiding it by keeping my head down. My older sister didn't notice a thing she said.

  Sadly, I still remained a prisoner of this religion most of my life believing it was a "truth" even if it destroyed me.

  in the real world, very few parents would disown their own children simply because they read a magazine that told them to do it.

  very few people would forever completely ignore their own parents because an elder got up on a platform one day and announced that they no longer follow the same religion as you.. in the real world it just doesn't happen.

  and yet, for 8 million jehovah's witnesses it's very a normal part of their world to treat "other people" differently than they'd treat each other.

  I didn't read it as making the WT equal to the Nazis in all aspects. But in reading your last post Simon, I went and read it again.

  I still see the main point of this discussion, as the techniques that were used by Nazi Germany are used to some degree by the WT. Even I, before this topic was brought up, have often thought of how the WT uses the phrase "mentally diseased apostate" in the same way that Hitler used "dirty Jew" to label and put down people.

  Hitler is an icon of propaganda and arrogance. At least for me.

  A phrase I remember is this - they don't have the right heart condition

  It means no matter how pleasant or friendly they appear, they will never be like the JW's. Honest, truthful, and loving like God. Knowing right and wrong and acting on it.

  It means they embody everything that you would attribute to Satan - headstrong, unrepentant and looking to do evil.

  It makes turning your backs on them justified.

  lm getting conflicting advice.ls it the 144000 or jesus.l was always under the impression it was jesus.lf its the 144000 then when they pray the jw;s should be praying through the remnant not in jesus christs name but in the 144000;s name..

  I thought all the time it was Jesus. But then my sister said no, only the 144,000 get to have jesus as their mediator because well, they are the anointed etc. The other poor sheep, are supposed to wait for the "brothers of Jesus" to intercede on their behalf because, well, they're just the other undeserving sheep. She said this after she realized it was hooey.

  Not sure what you mean. Many African places still carry food etc. on their heads. Maybe you think it is the lady witness that is carrying the fruit? Nah, she is the one with the bookbag.

  There is something I don't understand about the selling off of Kingdom Halls

  i have been reading where the watchtower is closing down kingdom halls.

  there is something that i don't understand, or maybe i am just misunderstanding it.

  can someone clear this up for me?

  The other problem with this, is the regular JW's view on this. One JW I know, when I commented on this said "Well it all goes to Jehovah" So they equate all the money they've lost, as merely going to "God". Which it does. Guardians of Doctrine
